Frequently Asked Questions

We understand you might have various questions about our boot making process, the materials we use, and the options you get. Here, we provide answers to some of the most commonly asked questions, and if you can’t find what you’re looking for, please drop us a line and we’ll get back to you soon.

How long does it take?

The short answer: roughly six months from the time you pay and finish your fitting. The real answer is a bit more complicated, though. If you order specialty materials, are working with our artists on very detailed art, or just forget to send back your fitting kit, your ship date could be longer. We always do our best to communicate any changes, though. (On the other side of things, if you have a special event like a wedding, we may be able to rush your boots in less time if you only choose materials we currently have on hand and reduce design time.)

How long do they last?

Anika has personally seen boots she made 13 years ago still going strong. Read our blogs about boot care to ensure your boots last you for decades to come. Just like you, they will require some maintenance to live their best boot lives.

How much do they cost?

Our base price is tiered as shorties ($557), mid-height ($657), and knee highs ($757.) That includes several design options and colors. Changing the standard options on any element of the booth will increase the cost depending on design time, creation time, and material expenses.

My foot is too [big, small, thick, thin, etc] for store-bought boots. Can you fit me?

That’s what we do! We even fit prosthetics. Let us know if you have any mobility issues, but we can definitely accommodate any and all shapes / sizes.

Where are you located?

Our workshops are located mostly in the mountains of North Carolina. However, we don’t have a retail location anywhere. You can purchase many options directly on the website and then finish designing with one of our team members over the phone or Google chat. Or, if you’re lucky, you can meet up with us at one of our few in-person events.

Can I buy anything premade?

Nope! We exclusively make boots to order and to fit.

Can you make other styles of boots?

Yes, but we want to make sure all of our products are of the highest quality. Only the products listed on the site are currently available, but keep an eye out for new concepts when we are ready!

Is there anything you can’t put on a boot?

We love a challenge and can accommodate pretty much any request. However, we will strongly discourage any design elements that will affect the material’s durability or the comfort of the boots. There are also a very small number of designs we cannot replicate due to copyright issues. Don’t hesitate to ask about your idea!

Do you offer payment plans?

Not currently. This helps streamline our process and ensure shorter delivery times. However, if you see us in person, you can inquire! Sometimes at in-person events, we will accept partial payment so you can have your fitting done then.

I’ve seen boots like this before. What makes yours better?

In truth, it is a very small number of people who can make boots in this way, and we all have enjoyed working together at some point! We can honestly say you will get a great product no matter who you order from, but we are very proud of our significantly shorter wait time and ability to work with truly spectacular artists to bring any idea you have to life.

I only have one leg. Can I get just one boot?

It happens! Fitting time, pattern making, and other aspects of the boot making are not reduced by only making one, though, so we recommend designing two different boots for different occasions or having your prosthetic fit as well. But if you really just want one, we can work with you!

I’m not an artist. Can you design something for me?

We’d love to! Give us as much description and as many reference images as possible, and we can create something you’ll be proud of.

I’m an artist. Can I design it myself?

Yes! We can follow the stencils you create using our pattern dimensions. And if you’re a leather carver, we can even sew on your own tooling.
